Town of Pittsboro, North Carolina | Postage Stamp Acres

The Project

As my third new park development project in Pittsboro, this urban pocket park was designed to strengthen the town’s downtown core and serve as a flexible, human-scaled gathering space. Though modest in size, it functions as an active civic platform—supporting morning fitness groups, street vendors, downtown festivals, bookstore readings, and community celebrations. Sustainable design elements, including permeable pavers, were incorporated to reflect environmental stewardship within an urban setting.

I provided full project leadership, including design direction, project management, and construction administration, ensuring the park aligned with broader downtown revitalization goals. I also organized the grand opening celebration, drawing more than 500 attendees and reinforcing the park’s role as a new civic anchor.

Serving concurrently as Pittsboro’s Main Street Coordinator, I leveraged strong partnerships with downtown stakeholders to ensure the project complemented ongoing economic development efforts. While funding did not initially allow for a mural installation, the project’s underlying vision endured—culminating in the addition of a fitting mural after my departure that further strengthened the park’s identity and sense of place.
