Rock Ridge Park & Disc Golf Course
Town of Pittsboro, North Carolina | 52 Acres
The Project
As Project Manager, I led the development of Rock Ridge Park from concept through completion—my second major park delivery for the Town of Pittsboro. The 52-acre neighborhood park includes walking trails, playgrounds, a mini-amphitheater, picnic shelter, and a signature zipline that quickly became a defining feature and community favorite. I selected and directed the design team, administered PARTF and LWCF grants, provided construction oversight, and maintained consistent communication with elected officials to ensure transparency, alignment, and quality execution.
Following the park’s completion, I identified an opportunity to expand its regional impact through the development of the Rock Ridge Disc Golf Course. After conducting an economic impact analysis, I secured support from the business community, recruited a nationally recognized course designer, leveraged more than $12,000 in volunteer labor, and implemented a targeted marketing strategy to maximize visibility with limited resources. Since opening, the course has consistently ranked among the top in North Carolina and is currently the highest-ranked course in both the Triad and Triangle regions—establishing the park as a recognized regional recreation destination.
The park’s success is reflected not only in rankings but also in visitor feedback, including enthusiastic reviews from traveling families and international visitors who describe it as a joyful and memorable stop—reinforcing its reputation as both a local treasure and a destination park.
